This week is a very short week! Here is what we are doing:

In Guided Reading this week, students will work on the -an family and using shaving cream to practice handwriting and writing sight words.  During Word Work, students will “Read Around the Room” and use stampers to spell out words. At the Listening Center, students will listen to a story and write the main character. During Read to Self, student will read books that they choose, but go on a “sight word hunt” looking for 5 different sight words. Finally, during Read with Someone, students will read with a buddy and discuss the beginning, middle, and ending of the book.

Theme:

During theme this week, students will create a turkey and write on each feather what they things they are thankful for.

Writer’s Workshop:

Students were introduced to a new rubric! They will free choice draw/write and practice using that rubric to help them become better writers.

Math:

Students will work on Math Centers that focus on the following:

  • measurement
  • shapes
  • greater numbers
  • sorting/patterning
  • graphing

Field Trip Slip/Money:

Money ($12) and permission slip were due last week for the field trip. I have sent reminders. Please turn it. If your child does not have both, she/he will not be able to attend the trip.

Sincerely,

Ms. Prasad-Heintz
